Yesterday, we shared some very exciting news. We’ve being trying more and more to separate business + personal stuff, because you’re here mostly in search of paper things! That’s why we formed our new personal blog, so that we can share travels, big life moments and more without distracting from the business.
That being said, this big announcement will definitely affect personal + business doings, so I think it’s important to share here our ultimate plan once baby’s arrival is imminent and after!
Here’s an important list to note in the coming months:
- Salt + Paperie will be in business up until the arrival of Baby Gil and after.
First of all, I love what I do. I can’t imagine doing anything else, and even though some moms and dads are called specifically do be just that, I don’t think that is my calling. I was called to create and to mother. And, I plan to do both in 2017. Even more so, unless we hit the lottery between now and May, I have to keep working because we have things to pay for, and even more in the coming months!
- We will have a small period of baby enjoyment time scheduled, without work.
I don’t think anyone would fault a small business owner, without “real” maternity leave for doing so. I’ve already heard I’m going to be in some kind of baby fog after the little one arrives anyways. I’ve already starting working around some “red dates”, which will be the last few weeks of May, until the beginning of July for deliveries. I have already chatted with most of my current brides, and they are so excited for us and sweet, that they have helped me reschedule anything that might be scary close. You guys are awesome!
- We will have booths at the Celebrations Bridal Show in January and July!
I was pretty nervous I might scare brides away with my big belly in January, but it’s important to me to still be out there socializing and meeting new brides. Plan to come see us, and our friendors, at the show January 8, 2017 at the VBCC North Hall!
- I will be looking for either a) an intern b) a personal assistant c) a nanny by the end of 2017.
If you specifically know of someone with Adobe Suite skills, that you think wouldn’t mind working 2-3 days a week, send them my way! Considering that person and me will practically be in a marriage together, I think it’s best to start looking now, and maybe an angel will come my way. If you don’t ask, you shall not receive, right? I’d rather have someone that’s earning hours or experience will working at S+P, but if that doesn’t happen, someone to help answer emails, contact forms, etc. would be awesome too!
- Any small business owners with advice for a first-timer, we are all ears.
I am not going to even begin to pretend that I can actually prepare for the fun, exciting and exhausting juggling game that will be parenting + running a small business, but if you have any golden nuggets for this girl, I would love to hear your secrets. I have so many great mom-traprenures that are constantly blowing me away, that I know you have some.
Thank you to each of you who has shared in this exciting time in our lives! If you’re dying to hear more about our personal story, head here to subscribe to our blog, Life with Gils.
