Time flies when you’re having fun. The goes double (no, triple!) for this post. I can’t believe that these photos were over two weeks ago! Although, I think our bodies thanked us for now being in full recovery mode. Secondly, I can’t believe my friend Ali is 30! We’ve been friends for 13 years now, and it really does not seem like we should be cresting into the 3-0s just yet. I’m lucky though, because when Ali turned 30 on the 29th of October, she chose to do something that was on my 30 Before 30 List! I was more than excited to attend a Martnin Mixology 101 for Ali’s birthday! However, the party started long before the class. Fair warning, the photos are all iPhone, and they only get blurrier and grainier as the night goes on. I blame it on the darkness though, not the martinis. 😉
Beau and Amy suggested we surprised Ali with a limo ride! We picked her and Justin up from their house and drove around sipping wine and singing Nelly. Keepin’ it classy, right?
We were dropped off at the Eaves after 2 hours of driving around, just for funsies! We were greeted by Chef Philips. What a hoot she was! Also, a good sport. Dealing with 15 adults that are acting a little louder than normal isn’t easy.
Then, the education began! First up, the Classic Vodka Martini. Shaken, not stirred. Learning to shake & pour with the glass was a huge part of the evening.
Next up, the Cosmo, Ali’s favorite. I think mine too!
Now the Chef got a little creative! She is a Chef after all… The Wasabi Martini, complete with ginger & a sushi skewer.
Number four, the Caprese Martni. Our glasses were coated in balsamic and we got a little caprese skewer for a garnish. This one tasted like dinner!
Four down and the real shaking begins. It starts to get a little silly after these!
Next up, a little dessert! Baklava Martini! Complete with a delicious crust. I have never had real Baklava, but the people who had said it tasted just like it. It was tasty anyways!
My favorite sequence of the night!
Last (thank goodness!) martini was the Chocolate Bacon Martini. Honestly, I don’t even remember what this one tasted like, but I definitely ate up that chocolate covered bacon!
Happy 30th Birthday, Ali! This fun (& rare) Thursday night went by way too quickly. Thanks for letting me check another item off the list!
