Top Ten | 2016 Wedding Invitations

posted in: Paperie, Real Weddings |

Here it is again, the end of a year, the beginning of a new. In the invitation world, we are working any where from 3-9 months ahead, so we’ve already designed and put together invitations as far as May, and save the dates for September. I can already tell that 2017 is looking even more beautiful than 2016!

In 2016, we had the privilege of working with 38 amazing brides on their wedding suites, and a dozen others on other various paper goods, so narrowing down my favorite ten was not an easy task at all! Much like my 2015 Top Ten post, this blog will barely skim the top of all the 2016 goodness. Check back as we receive some of our later-in-the-year brides’ photos for a more detailed look at their suites!

For now, I give you The Top Ten 2016 Wedding Suites!

Navy, Blush + Red Floral
Allison came to me with a clear vision of colors, and details about her wedding day. One of the best things I remember about our meeting is that Allison said she wasn’t really a color person, so she wasn’t sure why red was a part of her color scheme, but then we realized she was actually wearing the colors of her wedding to the meeting! My absolute favorite parts about her suite are the repeating monograms throughout, and her custom floral belly band to add just the right about of red to her suite.

Sweet Home Alabama
Erica is one of my favorite brides because she was simply ecstatic about the whole process! We never even met, but I know we would have had a great time in our meeting. Her and her fiancé took engagement pictures in a cotton field, with the Alabama flag. Can you think of any thing more Alabama than that? I love this suite because although it’s not everyone’s taste, it’s perfectly what we do here… design something you can’t find anywhere else. My favorite parts are the clean invitation layout and fonts, and of course, that Alabama flag belly band.

Gold, Greenery + Marsala
Working with Michele on all her wedding details was simply the best. We’ve already blogged a slew about her beautiful Nashville wedding, so I encourage you to get the full scoop here! She embraced her wedding branding from beginning to end, and it showed marvelously on her wedding day! My favorite things about this suite are the draping watercolor florals, and the matching Nashville map for her welcome bag!

Pink + Navy Watercolor Floral
I loved Bekah’s suite because it encompassed formality and fun in the best way. Her vision was a Southern vibe, but classic, because it was on a plantation after all, but not stuffy either. She wanted her guests to know there was a good time to be had! My favorite things about this suite are is the custom cut Alabama suite tie-on, and the mad-lib RSVP. I know Bekah had a great time receiving them back with her guests’ notes!

6.
Gold + Blush Matted Suite
We show cased this suite in our July bridal show, and it was by far the most popular suite we had! I believe it’s the clean lines with the matting, and the uncluttered invitation layout. We had such a great time working with Kayla and her mom for all of her wedding paper. From Save the Dates to Programs, we did it all! I can’t wait to get their “real” pictures back so I can share them! My favorite things about this suite are the custom direction map, and the way the invitation perfectly stacks together, blush, cream, gold, blush cream gold… ahhh, so perfect!

Black, Gold + Wine New Years Eve Suite
Ah yes, you’ve read correctly… this wedding is taking place tonight! There isn’t anything about this suite we don’t love. Working with Sara to design the perfect invitation to get her guests excited about dancing the night away at their wedding was nothing short of magical. I love that she went for the gold glitter belly band to give it that extra pop of glam. And, we love her tiny enclosure card that let’s her guests know to stick around for the countdown to 2017!

Classic Black + Champagne Matted Suite
This wedding will hold a special place in my heart forever, because it was for my life-long friend, Valerie! However, I believe her and Britt chose an invitation that will never go out of style. I love the crisp black ink on the natural paper, with the champagne matting. Her vision was perfect, because even on the wedding day, the photographer Erin Lindsey Images said she couldn’t stop because all of her details matched so perfectly! See all the details of this gorgeous Burritt Wedding here!

Soft Gray Letterpresses Suite
There’s no denying that there’s a connection between some of my favorite brides, and the fact they work with Erin Lindsey as their photographer… she was my wedding photographer, after all! Kit’s invitations were exactly what I would want for my “redo” wedding invitations. Letterpress stole my heart this year, and any bride who loves it is automatically put into my favorite category. The softness of the paper with the deep gray imprint is definitely my favorite thing about this suite. See how it matched her wedding day here!

Organic Greenery Wedding Suite
You’ll know immediately when you see this why it’s favorite. The classic calligraphy, the fresh watercolor greenery… it’s all so beautiful. Amanda was in Knoxville during her wedding planning, so I had a great time meeting with her mom during the months of planning. I love the torn edges on this suite, and the delicate gold tie for keeping the suite together. You can see the monster blog (the images were all so gorg!) here of her beautiful wedding day.

Gold Foil + Metallic Gray Matted Suite
I’m not sure if I love this suite because it’s stunning, or because we invested a lot of time into putting these bad boys together. Either way, this gold foil suite was my favorite of the year! I absolutely love the gold foil monogram + silk ribbon tie-around for banding the suite together. The fact that each piece is foiled makes this suite such a stunner.
